There is a growing number of individuals who are overwhelmed by anxiety and depression. Everyone has the capacity to live a life of happiness. However, when stressful life situations disconnect individuals from their capacity to cope, they become helpless when facing strong emotions and repetitive negative thoughts. Psychotherapy can help individuals build and reconnect with their internal resources and bring back the joy, peace and zest in their life.
Henry adopts a humanistic approach that empowers individuals to face difficult emotions and thoughts, and effectively cope with life’s challenges. He is skilled in a range of psychotherapy approaches. Henry works collaboratively with individuals to tailor suitable therapies including: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy and Ericksonian Psychotherapy.
Henry is a registered psychologist and approved supervisor with the Singapore Psychological Society. He has been practising as a psychologist since 2007 in primary and tertiary public health care. He also have experience working as a mental health professional with individuals in the community, educational and institutional setting.
Henry helps individuals who struggle with depression, fear, anxiety, panic, trauma, stress/emotional and binge eating. He also assists individuals to manage workplace bullying, difficulties in regulating emotions, making life transitions, interpersonal and family difficulties and finding their meaning in life.
Henry journeys with individuals to cope with medical conditions of irritable bowel syndrome colorectal cancer, cardiovascular diseases, paraplegia and quadriplegia. He specialised in helping obese and bariatric surgery patients make lifestyle behavioural changes, and chronic pain patients to enhance their quality of life and well-being. He was the lead in these two specialities while working at a tertiary hospital
Henry constantly strives towards quality and evidence-based practice to help individuals. He has been involved him in a multitude of clinical research and have participated actively in conference presentations and journal publications. His passion to serve has also brought him to be an Associate with the Singapore University of Social Science.
