Yammie has more than 10 years of diverse clinical experience working with children, adolescent, and adult clients in public service, hospital, and community sectors. She was a recipient of the Post-Graduate Specialist Scholarship by the Ministry of Social and Family Development and last employed as a Senior Clinical Psychologist at the Ministry prior to joining Mind Care.

Her extensive scope of clinical practice includes providing individual and group psychotherapy to support clients with psychiatric/psychological conditions, traumatic experiences, anger and conduct behaviour, as well as parenting and family relationship issues.

Yammie also works with individuals who do not necessarily have a psychiatric/psychological condition but may be experiencing stressful life changes, grief and loss, identity crisis, and burnout. She has a strong therapeutic interest in helping individuals to connect with their authentic selves and lead more values-aligned lives.

She is a trauma-informed therapist, meaning she pays attention to ways that traumatic experiences big and small may impact your brain, body, emotions, and thoughts. Her therapeutic style balances insight and change, meaning she helps you make sense of your past experiences as well as empower you to use your strengths and newly acquired skills to improve your life now. She prioritises a collaborative and therapeutic relationship as the foundation of this work.

Understanding that every client’s experiences and preferences are unique, she adopts an eclectic approach with techniques from diverse evidence-based psychotherapies, such as

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
  • Trauma-Focused CBT
  • Cognitive Processing Therapy
  • Dialectical Behavioural Therapy
  • Schema Therapy
  • Motivational Interviewing

to name a few, to customise an appropriate treatment and change plan for you.

Yammie firmly believes that we all deserve a compassionate and safe space to learn to embrace ourselves and our lives, despite inner and outer imperfections, as well as build resilience and thrive.

Outside of private practice, Yammie teaches at Singapore University of Social Sciences.
